Ava, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.

Ava, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.I started my acting and modeling career when I was three years old appearing in numerous national and global print, billboards and online ads for various clients including Target, Guess, Macy’s, Disney, Nike, Nickelodeon, Walgreens, Verizon and so on. By the age of six, I was cast in short and feature films that have been featured in the biggest film festivals around the world including the Cannes film festival. I’ve shared acting principal roles right opposite Hollywood’s most booked and busy working actors and actresses including Brian White, Sharon Leal and the Emmy award winner, Loretta Devine. I’ve had two feature films and one that I play a lead role in, most recently acquire distribution deals as well as being cast in a T.V show that I can’t wait to talk about when the time is right. Has it been a smooth road?Although it’s been a great journey thus far, it’s not always easy. Keep in mind; with one acting role, there are thousands of actors being submitted for, so it’s hard when you work so hard and dealing with rejection that comes with not booking the type of role you may want to book. I’ve submitted a lot of auditions and I don’t always get callbacks all the time but I’ve managed to look on the bright side that what’s meant to be for me, will be and what’s not, it just wasn’t meant to be. In this journey, you have to develop a thick skin and you have to try really hard not to let things get to you. I’m also a believer that when you trust God and his timing, good things will continue to happen. We’d love to hear more about your work.I recently booked a great supporting role for a T.V network that I’m prepping for, I  can’t wait to be on set with some of the most incredibly talented Hollywood actors. I also booked a role playing a younger version of a Hollywood actress a pretty cool role involving “Martial Arts” directed by an award winning director.   I”m also training for a role I recently booked for a boxing movie that will be filming in Mexico and Los Angeles. Exciting things on the horizon to look forward to doing what I love.  I’m very thankful for the opportunities. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?Although there’s still changes that need to happen, there’s some progress being made and more films with a diverse cast and it’s so great to see that.  I hope it continues. Representation truly matters.

Meet Ava JUSTIN

Ava, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now? I’ve been in the entertainment industry since I was about four years old. I’ve booked many commercial and print gigs for companies like target, 3M, General Mills , Best Buy and for numerous Ad agencies. I’ve also booked principal and supporting film roles right opposite some of the most talented Hollywood working actors like Brian White , Sharon Leal, Monica Calhoun,Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern and more. I’ve had to work very hard to book any job I’ve booked. I had to audition and sometimes going through several call backs it’s not an easy journey at all. These are the only proper steps to booking roles . An agent sends you an audition, you send a self tape and after you hear back , it’s either you booked or the next steps on call backs. Having a strong work ethic I believe sets me a part. I make sure I’m involved in every aspect of my projects so to continue learning. I started my own film production company, Ava Justin productions. I had to take on multiple jobs with all my projects I co/wrote, produced and helped with the casting process.I feel having good work ethics and working with a great and professional team can help set yourself for successful career What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience? The most rewarding aspect of being a filmmaker is being able to create something from the beginning and seeing the audience having great interaction after watching your film and, asking so many great questions during the Q&A. It’s the best part when you see so many people supporting your hard work. I’m very grateful for this journey I so love. Although the entertainment industry is so tough to break into., I’ve learned that when you don’t give up, when you are not afraid to reach out to those who can help you and when you use your God given talents, you can definitely make something amazing that you’ll be proud off. Brooklyn Park teen debuts first movie at 19 to sold-out crowd

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — It’s known as one of the toughest businesses to crack into, but a Brooklyn Park teen is making her way in Hollywood. Ava Justin didn’t just watch the movie — she manifested it. It’s a feat she started working toward at a very young age. “I started out as a baby model, then I got into commercials and films,” Justin said. She spent her childhood traveling to and from Los Angeles. “One of my first memories was in elementary school, I did a dance act at Kids Choice Awards,” Justin said. But amidst the triumphs, there’ve been trials too. “The entertainment industry is so tough. There’s so many talented people. There’s hundreds of actors who are auditioning for just one role, so rejection is something that comes with the business,” Justin said. “Often times it’s not personal — just don’t take it personal. Learn the value of perseverance.” At 17, Justin decided to make her own way in the world of entertainment. “Part of the reason I started my production company was to give myself more opportunities and to give other people more opportunities as well,” Justin said. She and her family self-funded Ava Justin Productions. The horse lover had an idea. “I was able to work with a writer in the Twin Cities who was my mentor and taught me about the processes of screenwriting,” Justin said. “Writing is very time-consuming. That’s another thing is the time it takes to write just a few pages and make it intentional.” In just six months, she had a script about a teen who lost her mother navigating grief and adolescence — filmed on a Medina farm with local actors. The movie was quickly picked up. “I was 17 at the time of making the movie and to know it would be out for the world to see on many streaming platforms, that was surreal — especially knowing that as a first-time filmmaker,” Justin said. It won’t be the last film — she’s got two more thrillers in the works — all while being an influencer and getting a degree in business and film at the University of St. Thomas. “I think that don’t give up, follow your dreams, don’t let anyone tell you your dreams are too crazy or its not realistic,” Justin said. “I think that when you put your mind to something you really can make it work.”

Is There Anything Ava Justin Can’t Do? The Remarkable Journey of the Young Star Actress, Filmmaker, Screenwriter, Producer, and Model

Do you think you have Ava Justin all figured out? Sure, she’s a standout award-winning actress, but there’s much more to her story. Ava is already making a name for herself as a writer, producer, and director, and she’s just getting started. Her most recent project, Joy of Horses, demonstrates how far her imagination extends.  Acting may have been her first love—it allows her to explore new worlds and evolve with each role—but storytelling is now taking center stage. “Right now, I’m really into writing,” Ava says. “I’m working on a variety of projects, including family flicks and thrillers. There’s something magical about making up characters and telling stories that people can relate to.”  Her curiosity for storytelling started early. As a kid, memorizing her lines wasn’t enough. She wanted to know how the whole production came together. “I’ve been acting most of my life,” Ava explains. “But I was always fascinated by what happened behind the camera. Eventually, I realized I didn’t just want to act—I wanted to create stories.” By age 10, she was already writing her own scripts, planting the seeds for what would grow into Ava Justin Productions. With her production company up and running, Ava is all about creating stories that stick. Her big moment as a filmmaker? Co-writing, producing, and executive-producing Joy of Horses. This touching story centers on Joy, a young woman working through grief and finding strength after moving in with her grandfather. Along the way, she discovers an unexpected bond with horses that helps her heal. But when someone from her past shows up, life takes a twist, and she’s caught in a love triangle that tests her resilience. “Working on Joy of Horses was an amazing experience,” Ava says. “It’s a story that feels genuine, and I think people will see themselves in it.” Getting to this point wasn’t easy, though. Like many in the industry, she faced challenges, including navigating Hollywood strikes and a constantly changing business. “I’ve had to grow thick skin and figure things out as I go,” she shares. “But that’s what makes it worthwhile—knowing I’ve built something from the ground up.” Ava thrives on growth. She’s dived into every corner of filmmaking, from writing and directing to tackling post-production. That hands-on approach is paying off, with two other features; “Cruel Summer Weekend” and “Terror At 1003” both currently in post-production.These days, Ava is not only focusing on filmmaking. Along the way, she has been pursuing modeling and has landed print and commercial gigs. “I’m really appreciative of these chances,” she says. “I try to appreciate everything that comes my way because nothing in life is guaranteed.” Ava is constantly challenging herself to try new things, whether she’s in front of the camera bringing stories to life or behind it crafting them. Her social media presence is another way she’s connecting with people. With over two million followers across platforms, she’s not just posting updates—she’s sharing her journey. Through podcasts, fan interactions, and little reminders to stay positive, she’s using her platform for more than promotion. “I love talking to people and spreading good vibes,” she says. “Life can be tough, so why not add a bit of kindness?”But Ava’s impact doesn’t stop there. Inspired by her Kenyan-American roots, she’s started a clothing line and is writing a book to fund education for kids in a Kenyan village. “This project means so much to me as the proceeds of my brand and book will go toward funding the education of those kids” she shares. “Helping them go to school feels like a small but meaningful way to give back.” At 18, Ava’s already juggling so much—and doing it with heart. She’s proving you can chase big dreams while making a difference. Want to see what she’s been working on? Check out the Joy of Horses trailer and stream the film.
